Notes

Chirashi Sushi (Scattered Sushi) is a visually stunning Japanese celebration meal. An assortment of fresh, vibrant sashimi-grade fish, sweet egg omelet, and cucumber is artfully scattered across a bed of seasoned sushi rice.

Ingredients (2 Servings)

  • 3 cups seasoned fresh Sushi Rice (cooled to room temperature)
  • Sashimi assortment: 4 slices Tuna, 4 slices Salmon, 4 slices Yellowtail or boiled Shrimp
  • Garnishes: 1/2 Cucumber (sliced into thin discs), Salmon roe (Ikura), shredded tamagoyaki egg, pickled ginger
  • Premium Soy sauce and Wasabi (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Rice foundation: Divide the seasoned, cooled sushi rice evenly into two wide, beautiful lacquer bowls or deep plates. Flatten the surface gently.
  2. Create background: Scatter a uniform layer of shredded sweet tamagoyaki egg and crisp cucumber discs across the surface of the rice.
  3. Scatter raw fish artfully: Fan out the beautiful slices of sashimi-grade tuna, salmon, and yellowtail across the bowl, alternating colors to create a gorgeous contrast.
  4. Jewel finish: Spoon a brilliant cluster of orange salmon roe (Ikura) right into the center of the bowl like raw jewels. Place a small pile of pickled ginger on the side.
  5. Serve: Present proudly with wasabi and premium soy sauce. Pour soy sauce gently over the fish just before enjoying.
