Premium Beef Sukiyaki
Bring family and friends together with a luxurious, sweet-savory Japanese hot pot (Sukiyaki) experience.
Notes
Sukiyaki is a magnificent Japanese hot pot meal featuring marbled beef slices, tofu, and seasonal vegetables simmered together in a sweet, savory soy-sauce-based broth called Warishita.
Ingredients (2-3 Servings)
- 1 lb thinly sliced Ribeye beef
- 1 block Grilled Tofu (Yakitofu), cut into squares
- 1 pack Shirataki noodles (rinsed and parboiled)
- 1 Negi (Japanese leek) or leek, sliced diagonally
- 1 cup Shiitake mushrooms
- Warishita Broth: 1/2 cup Soy sauce, 1/2 cup Mirin, 1/4 cup Sake, 3 tbsp Sugar
- Fresh pasteurized eggs (for dipping)
Instructions
- Mix Warishita: Combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in a bowl until sugar dissolves completely.
- Sear beef: Heat a shallow sukiyaki pot or skillet. Sear a few slices of marbled beef. Pour a splash of Warishita over the meat to caramelize. Enjoy these first slices immediately!
- Arrange components: Neatly arrange the remaining beef, tofu, shirataki noodles, negi, and shiitake mushrooms in separate sections of the pot.
- Simmer: Pour the rest of the Warishita broth into the pot. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender and beef is cooked.
- Eat hot pot style: Serve directly from the simmering pot, dipping the hot components into a bowl of whisked raw egg for a silky finish.
